#TradeWithBitPesa: What You Missed

On Saturday, 20th June, BitPesa held the Trade With BitPesa event at Jumuia Place in Nairobi. Traders from Kenya and beyond came in for the action, representing Tanzania, Uganda and Zimbabwe as well. Bitcoin novices made up half the audience. John Karanja, BitPesa’s Head of East African Sales was on the ground as MC and got things rolling.

As everyone arrived, we played The Rise and Rise of Bitcoin on the big screen — it was a Nairobi Saturday morning after all. 🙂 After a quick cup of tea for everyone, it was time for Michael Kimani, Head of the ADCA, to take everyone through Bitcoin 101 and the growing opportunity in East Africa. John Karanja then took us through how to use BitPesa for payments and remittances.

We had 60+ join our live stream and updates via BitPesa on Twitter.

Godwin Omuga, Kenya’s resident mining expert, opened the afternoon sessions with a talk on everything from solo to pool mining. Wilberforce Seguton tackled Security and Storage, where he fielded quite a number of questions just like the speakers before him. Team BitPesa represented by Elizabeth Rossiello, Amy Ludlum and Shiku Ngigi took to the stage to answer FAQs and listen to what customers would like to see in the near future. As always, we were all ears. We love to hear from our customers!

Robin Nyaosi brought the day to a close with his jokes and intense trading strategies. We all had some more tea and snacks on the terrace and got to hear more about how everyone is growing their business with Bitcoin.

Don’t miss out on all the action and stay tuned for our next event!
